Tomorrow marks the last day of the first grading period.  I will be passing out a list of missing work to scholars who are missing assignments in my class on Friday.  They will have the weekend to locate those assignments, finish them, and they are due on MONDAY, September 27th.  I have to have ALL grades finalized on Monday night, so I cannot accept assignments from the first grading period past Monday!!!

Additionally, I will be out of town this weekend for a prior family obligation.  It will be easier, therefore, to reach me via cell phone at 240-997-2174.  If I do not pick up, please leave a detailed message, and I will be happy to call you be
 
This weekend, your scholar has homework in science!  Sometimes we will have homework on Fridays, and this is an instance where scholars need to do some important preliminary research in order to prepare for a research project that we will start next week!  The homework assignment details can be found below:
  • Read Chapter 4, Section 1, and fill in the chart on your homework worksheet describing the unique characteristics and typical animals and plants found in each of our 6 land biomes.  Then, on the back of your worksheet, answer the four questions that you see below your chart.
  • Extra Credit Opportunity! Find a timely news article that describes the environment of one of the land biomes that you read about this weekend.  You can go to the public library to find a newspaper or magazine with a relevant article, or you can print one off of th
 
 
  • Use Ms. McGuirk's Quia to research information about your favorite wild animal!
  • Then, once you have completed your worksheet, go under "Calendar" and to "Unit 2 Resources" - find today's day (Wednesday, September 1)
  • Download the Power Point and get started inserting pictures of your favorite animal's population, community, and ecosystem!

  • Download the file underneath today's date in "Unit 1 Resources."
  • Up above, hold your mouse over the "More" tab and then click on "Unit 1 Resources"
  • Scroll down to today's date (Friday, August 20th)
  • Click Download File
  • Double click this file to open it up into Word.
  • Start typing up the first four steps of your experiment using complete sentences and lots of detail!
  • When you are done, make sure you save the file as "Your Last Name First Name Experimental Design Contest"
  • Then, follow the instructions for submitting the file to Ms. McGuirk's Drop Box (it will be given to you on a piece of paper)
